The benefice is looking for a new Rector.

The two PCCs are working together to find the right person for the job which isn't a straight forward Job.

Firstly we have to produce a Parish Profile which will be sent to interested Priests to give them a feel for the Benefice.  A small editorial group with members from both churches has been tasked with writing this profile.

The profile needs to stand out from the rest as there are a good number of vacancies in the Diocese at the moment, 18 in York Archdeaconry alone!

With this in mind, we have moved away from the traditional paper document and have produced a Prezi which is dynamic and interactive presentation tool which is accessed online.  The use of the Prezi itself should say something of nature of the Benefice as it talks about our heritage but looks to the future encapsulated in the use of contemporary communication techniques.

Within the Prezi, there is also a short video which captures the nature of the Benefice, its services, community engagement, relationship and hopefully demonstrates the way God and His people here in the Parishes are engaged with each other and the wider community.

We are also producing a job advert which, again, will be designed to reflect who we are.

The Parish Profile and the Advert will be submitted to the Archdeacon for Diocesan approval and possibly our Patron, the Lord Chancellor.

It is the Lord Chancellor who will determine the process of appointment but with the guidance of the Archdeacon and the petitions of the PCC.

The Diocese will then take over the process of recruitment.

The timescale is hard to determine; some Benefices wait years for a replacement Priest.  This is not the expectation of our Benefice, but there is no way of knowing.

In the meantime, everything will be maintained by the Church Wardens, myself, and all of you who so kindly dedicate time to the work of God in this community.

There is something we can all do to help the process, and that is to pray, pray that the process runs smoothly and that the right person is appointed.  Also, remember John and Yvonne in your prayers as they transition into the next phase of their faith journey.
